 A distribution board also known as a panelboard, breaker panel, electric panel, DB board, or DB box) is an electrical supply system component that divides an electrical power source into subsidiary circuits while providing a protective fuse or circuit breaker for each circuit in a single enclosure. A main switch is typically included, as well as one or more residual-current devices (RCDs) or residual current breakers with overcurrent protection (RCBOs) on more contemporary boards. 

Distribution Boards and Their Applications  

1. Electrical Distribution: This is the location from which you can distribute and control the electrical supply to various parts of your home. It divides the electrical distribution into smaller circuits or subsidiary circuits.

Distribution Boards Come in a Variety of Shapes and Sizes 

There are numerous types of db box available today, depending on consumption, location, and amperage. They are utilized in accordance with the state or district's electrical code.  

1. Main Breaker Panel: This is a sort of panel that is used to power a single commercial or residential unit. They are connected to the meter cable's supply. They house the main circuit breaker, which can cut off all power to the unit. They also show the amperage rating, which is the maximum amount of electrical current that the circuit can safely handle. 

2. Main Lug Panel: When there is a main breaker panel upstream, this type is employed. They have a separate disconnector that can be used to aid disconnect it in the event of a fire or other disaster. 

3. Sub-panel: Sub-panels, like main lug panels, take power from the main breaker panel and divide it into smaller circuits for specific appliances and areas of the house. They do not, however, have their own disconnects. 

4. Transfer Switches: A transfer switch is a type of subpanel that is used in conjunction with backup power generators to disconnect from the main power supply. These are particularly handy in stormy areas where power outages are often.
